Christian Education At flint academy

Providing a Christian education for our Flint students is the cornerstone of our school philosophy. However, as the founder of Flint Academy, I desire for the Christian life offered to the students of our school to be deep, rich, and true.

All of our teachers and staff are Christians. They are affiliated with different denominations. The school is not affiliated with a specific denomination. The school follows Biblical Christianity and the Nicean Creed. We attempt to not teach differences among the denominations as truth or not truth. The children are told that they are to obey their parents in matters of faith as they are growing up.

We do, however, teach as truth the Nicean Creed, including an emphasis on salvation through Jesus Christ alone.

Our Christian belief includes the idea that God created each child unique and that they are precious in his sight. This transforms our perception and treatment of each child. Our school motto speaks to this view: “Flint Academy, where we recognize that your child is eternally significant”

What does this look like on a daily basis at Flint? We have a class period each day for grades PreK - 12th that is dedicated to Christian Studies. This usually consists of Bible study, reading, discussion, prayer, and sometimes Christian hymns. It could be a time to read a book about a missionary, a person’s testimony, an allegory, or a Christian apologetic. At times we have a special speaker or chapel service.

The deeper, richer, and truer expression of the Christian faith manifests in an organic fashion at Flint Academy. It shows up in the love the teachers have for the children. It shows up in the nurturing of each child’s heart. It shows up in quiet conversations between teacher and child - personal correction with love - encouragement, uplifting words, guidance, and truly enjoying each other. The children portray a general mood of happiness and contentment, and those that aren’t feeling so positive for a time are assured of a safe environment where they will be loved as they work through their issues.

Whenever in doubt we go to the Scriptures to enlighten ourselves and get back on the rails that God has laid out for us.

Christianity being the school’s cornerstone provides the strongest foundation. Without my Christian faith, this school would never have been founded. It was placed in my heart by God when I was still a child.
