“In second grade our beloved John’s happy, boisterous attitude began to be threatened by an unexpected inability to sit still, focus or succeed in school. After two years of tutoring, summer schools, extra studies, and eventually ARD meetings, John was grade levels behind his peers and still struggling with fundamentals. It was obvious to us that the all these efforts were terribly insufficient.
We took matters into our own hands, getting an outside professional evaluation and recommendations. The contrast between Johns tested abilities and his potential, his needs and current school provisions, our expectations and the reality were heart rending. We knew and believed there was a better path for John. Armed with this new knowledge, we evaluated and compared public to all the private schools in the area- looking especially for a flexible scholastic architecture that could accelerate John back onto a winning trajectory.
We found all the elements for success at Flint Academy. Staff and curriculum that understood with a success track record to prove their methods. We found their program to be comprehensive with the focus on Christian values so lacking in the public school system. Today, John is much happier, much more successful and accelerating his academic curve. His smile and knowing responses make the sacrifices worth it.
Thank you Flint Academy!”
“Flint Academy is a true godsend for our family. We had tried public school and home school and they were not working for our child with some behavioral issues. From the first time my family visited, you knew every one of the teachers and admins loved these kids like their own. Our son loves school, his teachers, and friends. We have not had any behavioral problems since he has started Flint Academy. Flint Academy is far beyond just a school, they are changing our kids lives for the greater good. If it weren’t for Flint, our child would still be struggling and lost. Thank you Flint Academy for everything.”
“We have been on quite the journey with school for our kids. We started out homeschooling and really enjoyed everything about it, but life changed for our family a few years ago, and we had to have some family come live with us. Later that year we began the church planting journey and all of a sudden life was busy and though I didn’t want to, I knew I needed to let homeschooling go. It was hard, but I was doing a lot of things and none of them well. Fortunately, we got into a fine arts academy and the families in that school really made the experience tolerable, but my Momma heart was never truly happy. Little by little the learning needs of my kids began to show and the school system, though the desire to help is there, they are just overwhelmed with students and couldn’t help. We did the 504's, we got on medication, we paid all the tutors, we got financial help and sent some to Sylvan, we did it all and still ended up frustrated. Finally last year, we pulled the child that was struggling the most and decided to homeschool for the rest of the school year. Little did we know the entire United States would be joining us in finishing the year homeschooling! I just knew there had to be a better way. I just knew that if we didn’t do something different, my kids would barely pass school, definitely hate learning, and for sure never make it to college. Learning was a chore and we all hated it. That is when God stepped in and led me to calling Flint Academy (a school I came across online while searching alternate ways to educate your children). I read the entire website, every tab, looked at every picture and I just fell in love. I could not believe that there was a school in existence, not far from my house that was everything I ever dreamed about when it came to my children's education. I picked up the phone and called and the friendly voice that answered invited me to come and check out the school and even bring my kids so they could see the school for themselves. We have been at Flint Academy now for only one semester and I feel like everyone in my life is tired of hearing about it. All of my children absolutely love school now. When Sunday night comes there is no more sadness about the week ahead, they are genuinely excited to go to school. One of my children cried every single morning for 4 years about going to school, to the point we had this child evaluated by a doctor. That same child tells us she loves school at least twice a day, and going on break from school was actually hard for her. I didn’t know life could be like this. The peace this school has brought in our home, and the return of a love for learning is priceless, a true gift from God. Thank you to Dr. Flint, for the years she put into making this happen and the entire team she has built here. We are thankful and proud to be at Flint Academy.”
“Flint Academy is absolutely the Best School! We have been very Blessed to find Flint. Our son has attended for a couple years now and has excelled and done so extraordinary well. When he was diagnosed with Autism, ADHD, Dysgraphia and clinical depression a couple years ago ,we had gone through a couple different schools and finally found Flint. They have been wonderful. They have the Best Teachers and Staff who are always going that extra step to help your child succeed. Our son is now reading and doing so well in his classes. We can not thank Flint enough for all the support and love they give all the kids who attend and We highly recommend to join Flint Academy.”
“This school has done wonders for my daughter. The small class size vs teacher ration (6:1) is tremendously helpful. When public school failed my daughter over and over again, Flint Academy has helped her thrive. She had many behavioral problems at public school but since she has been in Flint Academy, she is a completely different child. For a child that hated school for so long due to feeling different and picked on, Flint has brought joy back to school for her! She loves to go to school and begs to go even when she is sick. For any parent that has been through 504 plans , IRDs, and special ed in public school, you will be relieved to find that you will NOT need any of that at Flint. The teachers are trained for Gifted and talented, mainstream, and special needs children. They do an amazing job and she has learned so much in her time at Flint. For a parent with a special needs child struggling in public school, Flint is one of the greatest gifts you can get. Seeing the joy on her face and the determination to learn even when the subject may be hard is amazing! Thank you Flint Academy!”
“We have two student in Flint Academy. Both are dyslexic and one is AD/HD which makes it very difficult to thrive in the public school system. The teachers and curriculum at Flint provide a safe environment in which our students are learning and growing. As with any good school, parent involvement is vitally important. There are regularly scheduled progress reports but, more importantly, teachers and administration is readily available to discuss student progress or any parental concerns at any time. I would recommend Flint Academy to any family seeking a quality education, learning not only the basics but being taught ethical and moral behaviors through practice and example.”
“I have a child that was diagnosed with ASD, ADHD, and Dyslexia. The Public school system failed her over and over. By 5th grade, she barley knew any sight words and certainly could not read a sentence so we pulled her out of public school and she started at Flint in 2014. She has thrived in their small class environment (12 kids at the most and 2 teachers per a class). She has made so much progress being at this school and the teachers are able to give a more one on one approach and adjust assignments as needed. They also have animals at the school that are used for learning but the classes take turns taking care of the animals while in school (lizard, tortoise, bunnies, etc.) and also have daily classroom chores at the end of the school day. The school is Mon - Thurs from 9:30-3:30p, which is much shorter than public school, but she has learned more in her 3 years at Flint than all her years in public school. This is a Christian based school so they also have a bible lesson on top of all the other academics. The academics are hands on learning which is great for kids with dyslexia,. I also love that the kids are also expected to be kind to everyone (no bullying or talking ugly about others is tolerated at all). I love this school and so does my daughter.”
“My grandson started at Flint Academy in 2015 and we have been very pleased with his progress. The environment, teaching methods, and people have helped him immensely. He had behavior problems at his previous schools and they have disappeared since he has been to Flint. He loves going to school now and actually thought last summer was way too long. Would highly recommend Flint Academy.”
