The athletics program at The Flint Academy is founded on the same philosophy of inclusion that guides Flint classrooms. All students are encouraged to participate in whichever sports interest them, regardless of skill level or prior experience. There are no try-outs and anyone who wishes to play automatically makes the team. Regardless, Flint has been competitive with other private schools in our division, even winning back to back state championships in men’s varsity basketball.
Sports currently offered at Flint include basketball, volleyball, six-man football, cheerleading, and elementary-level soccer. Other sports may be added depending on student interest.
The main goal of the atheltics program is to support the work ethic, character building, and social skills development that is emphasized in the classroom. Sports are seen first and foremost as a way to reinforce the positive traits that we seek to build in our students.
